About Mike Brand

I'm an Aussie with a Canadian accent. That is to say, I spent the formative years of my linguistic life in Canada, before moving to Australia when I was nine. Because of this I always have to explain my history to people when I introduce myself as "from Sydney." My family moved southward when my dad got a job with the Aussie government.
As far as education I briefly studied communications at The University of Western Sydney, which was interesting; I got to learn a lot about topics ranging from semiotics to advertising to how malls work. Eventually I found my way to The University of Sydney where I completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Digital Cultures (and almost majoring in Psychology, but that's another story). As part of my undergrad I went on an exchange to the University of Maastricht, so I'm well travelled.
Finally I wound up at the University of Queensland doinga Masters of Interaction Design, which is where I currently am.
